LaunchCut
Recording or screenshots?

Choose the evidence.
Then choose the motion.

A live workflow and a set of polished screens tell different stories. Use this comparison to choose the right source for your app or SaaS promo before you spend credits.

Choose a screen recording when a gesture, sequence or changing result is the benefit. Choose screenshots when a few stable interface states explain the product. LaunchCut accepts either source for Standard and Enhanced creation; the choice changes your evidence, not the creation price.

01 / A REAL ACTION

The interaction is the point.

Record one clean task so the action and result provide the evidence.

02 / CLEAR PRODUCT STATES

A few screens say enough.

Choose the result, its context and a next step, then put them in story order.

01

Use a recording to show what changes

For a photo organizer, moving a photo into a collection may be the evidence. For a SaaS tool, a before-and-after result may need the real input and processing sequence. Record one complete task, then pause briefly on the result. A long tour of settings adds material without necessarily adding proof. LaunchCut samples frames for analysis, so inspect both the chosen frames and the final motion instead of assuming every source action survives the edit.

02

Use screenshots to make a small sequence legible

For a routine planner, a plan screen, a practice library and a progress state can explain the proposition. Begin with the most useful result, then add context. Use genuine product screens and keep the important photos, cards and labels complete. A mockup can communicate a concept, but an animated screenshot does not establish a working tap or live transition.

03

Prepare the source you actually have

A recording can be MP4, MOV or WebM, between 1 second and 3 minutes, up to 300 MB. Screenshot mode accepts 1–15 PNG, JPG or WebP images, up to 10 MB each, with add, remove and ordering controls. Start with a few purposeful screens rather than using every available slot. The studio currently chooses one source mode per work; do not assume it mixes a recording and a screenshot set in one upload.

04

Let a generated shot support the product evidence

Enhanced adds one planned five-second generated video shot. That shot can contribute atmosphere or a visual idea; it should not invent a product feature, fabricate an interface or stand in for the evidence. Both editions still need a product story and a review of the complete film. The new film is capped at 20 seconds, and editing, MP4 export and downloads are included.

Have these ready.

Questions before you start

Can I upload a recording and screenshots together?

The current creation form switches between Recording and App screenshots. Use one source mode for a work. A product logo is an optional separate input.

Are screenshots cheaper to turn into a film?

No. The current charge follows the edition: 30 credits for Standard or 60 for Enhanced. Source type does not change that price. One-time public packs start at $10.

What if I have no usable screens yet?

Use the free script planner to work out the story first. If you use concept images, disclose that status; do not present a concept as a working product.

Take the brief into your film.

Standard 30 credits · Enhanced 60 credits · Manual editing, MP4 export and downloads included.
