1. Source selection
We review publicly accessible discussions and review feeds where users describe a concrete task, failure, workaround, cost, delay, or frustration. Current source types include Reddit discussions and Apple App Store customer-review feeds. We prioritize recent, specific signals over generic requests for ideas.
A source is stronger when it identifies who has the problem, what they were trying to do, what failed, and what consequence followed. A single post can reveal a useful hypothesis, but it does not establish market size.
2. Evidence handling
Every published opportunity includes a direct source URL and review date. Evidence summaries are paraphrases unless quotation marks and a direct source make clear that text is quoted. We do not invent user quotes, revenue figures, customer counts, purchase intent, or market statistics.
App Store feeds change as new reviews arrive. When a feed is dynamic, the report states the date it was reviewed. Reddit posts may be edited or removed by their authors; a broken or materially changed source should be reported for correction.
3. Opportunity interpretation
After identifying a source signal, we describe a narrow buyer, job to be done, current workaround, product hypothesis, minimum viable test, pricing hypothesis, distribution angle, and primary risk. These are editorial judgments, not claims made by the source author.
4. Scoring model
Scores are relative research tools on a ten-point scale. They help subscribers compare opportunities within a report; they are not financial forecasts.
- Pain clarity: Is the problem specific, consequential, and easy to explain?
- Buyer clarity: Can a reachable person or business role be identified?
- Urgency: Does delay create lost money, time, data, trust, or opportunity?
- Build scope: Can the central assumption be tested without building a broad platform?
- Distribution fit: Is there a credible path to reach the target user?
- Competition risk: Are substitutes strong, entrenched, or easy to replicate?
5. Validation standard
No opportunity is labeled "validated" solely because complaints exist. A source-backed opportunity still needs one or more market tests: buyer interviews, a landing-page conversion test, a paid manual pilot, a preorder, or repeated usage of a prototype.
6. Independence and corrections
Opportunity Intel is independent and is not affiliated with Reddit, Apple, or products referenced in reports. We do not accept payment from referenced products for favorable inclusion. If a source is mischaracterized, unavailable, or requires correction, email lee271420@gmail.com with the report URL and issue.
